At The Coffee House–A Gathering place we sell great coffee along with food items that encourage people to come and to gather and to stay a while. We serve breakfast and lunch all day, including breakfast burritos, panini and deli sandwiches, fresh salads, and homemade soups. We also bake our own muffins, breads, scones, and biscotti and make our own desserts like pies, cupcakes, cookies, and truffles. We include some gluten-free and no-sugar-added items. Other desserts include sundaes, shakes, floats, homemade ice cream sandwiches, and homemade bread pudding.
Our coffee is made by Lizzy’s Coffee, a local roaster. We shopped around for coffee when we arrived in the valley, and we are convinced that Lizzy’s is the best by far–a superior coffee.
We offer an excellent premium tea made by Compassion Tea, and organization which donates all of its profits to bringing medical care to rural areas of Africa.
Besides coffee and tea, we offer all variety of coffee drinks, hot and cold: latte, cappuccino, frappe, breve, macchiato, Americano, espresso, cafe au lait, and more.
Besides coffee drinks we offer fresh lemonade, Italian sodas, steamers, smoothies, chai, juice, and other beverages.
Our space is limited, but we currently host group meetings and classes for the community in the evening. In the future, we hope to have an expanded space and to provide free meeting and counseling space for individuals, community groups, businesses, and non-profits. We would also like to have a playroom for young children with space included for moms and dads to meet while supervising their kids.
From time to time we host live music. In the future we would like to add things like open- mic nights, poetry readings, game nights, trivia nights, board games, fire pit gatherings, movie nights, etc.
We participate in community events—providing coffee and treats—sometimes for a charge and sometimes for free in order to meet people in the community, promote the Coffee House, and to support others in our community. We are members of the Chamber of Commerce and attend local functions.
At the Coffee House we highlight local artists, musicians, and artisans by providing a place for them to display and sell their work, host special events like book signings and sales, provide advertisement as we are able.
We are working to create a space that is a slice of Idaho life—a place where travelers will want to be sure to come and see when they visit the city of Hailey and its surrounding towns. Many people have told us how warm and welcoming The Coffee House is. They like the “look” and the “vibe” we have created so far.
We currently host a weekly worship gathering known as “The House” and sometimes referred to as “casual church,” which meets on Saturday nights at 6 PM. We include authentic worship, relevant teaching, open discussion, and weekly communion.
We are adding things to the schedule for the fall and hope to provide additional events and opportunities for people to gather together to learn, to grow, to interact, to share, to pray, to worship, to seek after God.
As our finances grow, we would like give to a different charity (usually local) each month
We are working to plan and participate in charitable events encouraging community members to join with us in caring for the less fortunate through food distribution, feeding the homeless, clothing distribution, donating clothing or food gift cards and teaching people to give back.
In the future, we would like to do things like these:
Organize events like hunting, hiking, fishing, and biking trips for the purpose of building relationships and talking about God as Creator
Provide homework help and tutoring
Offer workshops in relationships, parenting, dating, marriage, etc.
Host discussion groups like movie and book groups as well as discussions on deeper issues related to living life well.
Have a coffee cart or two to take out to the community.
Be open early and stay open late for special events
Provide room and board for interns who come to train and to serve in the ministry, perhaps at a separate ministry center location.
Host retreats for ministry training also perhaps at a separate ministry center location.
Provide transitional housing for people who need help finding their footing in the community.
Provide job opportunities and job training for people who need help finding their footing in the community.
Support a pregnancy support and abortion alternative center in the valley.
